A Contraceptive Pill

Afore falling in his arms they advice to think twice

Unregretful I act beyond my surprise

It’s the grip of a force, a force here to claim

Compelling, like a moth drawn to the flame

Every night encloses the heat of flaming souls

But sun kissed morning plays a wicked role

To my realization it brings an obvious question

What next to prevent conception?

Like always, I pop in a pill to save the bill

My guy admires the worth of a contraceptive pill

It causes side-effects. Ah! How would he know?

He enjoys the freedom of reckless show

Nevertheless, I look at kids and admire their innocence

Wish the pill could kill within me my maternal presence!

The roots of poetry lies in the tears escaping an eye,  smiles embellishing true joy and million such emotions!

Has it ever been so that you have read a poem and felt-

‘Ah! Wish I could write something like that! But alas! I can’t think and write CREATIVELY!’

Or maybe you tried penning down your thoughts, but words coming out of you were too few!

Can all of us write creatively??

For that matter, what is creative writing?

–    Anything where the purpose is to express thoughts, feelings and emotions rather than to simply convey information.

If so, what is poetry writing?

–    Anything that expresses the writer’s thoughts and feelings in an imaginative, often unique, and poetic way!

And we human beings are meant to express, aren’t we? Every single day, emotions flow in the form of anger, affection, jealousy, pride, love and the list goes on… maybe in a poetic way!

So, expression is not a problem. So where lies the problem?

It lies within you. May be the pessimistic nature pokes in.

Let me quickly share few easy tips to initiate the urge of poetry writing in you. And who knows, a great poem may emerge out of the truest urge!

Here we go!

Be observant & Think Differently

The geneses of poems are spread all across. It’s in anything and everything you sense and live with. Look within you and around you. Learn to perceive things differently. Ummm… to begin with, you can think exactly opposite to what you normally think. And then scrutinize. WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! And you will know how your way of thinking drastically changes or at least betters with a little careful observation and different thinking. Here lies the beginning of poetry writing. It requires the burden of true emotions to be released in the pool of exclusive words.

Await the First Natural Spark

When your mind entertains so many thoughts and emotions, it’s important to identify the true ones by shunning away the rest.

How??

Don’t you worry! These true emotions will find their way to your paper as first effortless thoughts or words penned down by you.

Word is GOD!

The right word is inevitable, irreplaceable. In poetry writing, in fact, in any form of writing, ensure to write what you exactly mean. Clarity is of utmost importance. Use of rhetoric language may be pleasing to the ears but at times have lesser impact than words creating strong and clear imageries.

Go with the Musical Flow!

Words that you write need to flow in a tone, style, grace and movement. Each word in a poem should work like a musical note, and each verse like a bar and the poem as a whole like a symphony, harmonious in its total orchestration.

Remember! Poetry gives you a voice – a profound voice of expression. You should have yours! Give it a try!
